SOPHIA ZUKOSKI
actor . storyteller . educator

Sophia Zukoski, born in LA and raised everywhere, is an AEA actor, choreographer, and educator. She is a graduate from SUNY Purchase’s BFA Acting Conservatory, lover of life, plants, intimacy, and all things collaboration. She has performed in theaters such as New World Stages, 59E59, The Pearl Theater, Guild Hall, Dixon Place, and WOW! Cafe.

Her choreographic work, rooted in clarity of story and space, with a touch of fantasy, has been presented at Gibney Dance Center (ShowDown, PopUp), Chen Dance Center (Newsteps), Hudson Guild Theater (Sans Limites Fest), Triskelion Arts Center (Wax Works), and The Landmark Loew’s Theater (Your Move) alongside renowned artists such as Claire Porter. Sharing evocative slices of life onstage that bring the inside out, Sophia’s work unites the specificity of our tangible experience with fantastical places our minds traverse.

Sophia is the co-artistic director of Power of People Combined, a non-profit theater company that produces new work and celebrates organizations in need through live-events and advocacy. She is a SenseAct teaching artist, ensemble based deviser, and end of life doula. In her free time, Sophia enjoys exploring neighborhoods in NYC, spending time with friends, raising her plant babies, and volunteering at the 52nd St. Project.

Whats Happening Now?

Currently, Sophia is working as the Puppet Director on both John Leguizamo’s KISS MY AZTEC at Hartford Stage and AS YOU LIKE IT, adapted by Laurie Woolery and Shaina Taub, at the Delacorte in conjunction with The Public Theater’s Public Works. Cheers to building joyful ensembles, baby!

As a performer, she is rehearsing Margarita Blush’s UNFOLDING before it heads to Java Indonesia in October 2022.

In November, Sophia will be joining Emily Batsford at the Cottonwood Residency
